Beijing 北京 - Capital 首都 (PEK): Location: 28 km/17 Miles NE of the City centre. By Taxi: Metered taxis are available at the airport, and insist that the meter is used as over-charging is common. ~CNY 135/30-40 mins to the centre. Other destinations are charged at ~CNY 2 per km. Airport taxis are often much more expensive than regular taxis in Beijing. It can be worthwile getting the bus to any part of the city and then taking a regular taxi to your final destination, to avoid being overcharged. Taxi touts wait in the terminal, just after customs, and their sole purpose is to rip you off. There are 2 official taxi lines just outside arrivals. Taxi drivers do not expect to be tipped.
