Onward Travel: | Onward Travel is a taxi company offering trips to Edinburgh city for a fixed cost. Zone 1 includes the city centre and costs £12. Zone 2 extends to Leith, Granton, Duddingston & Morningside and costs £15. These prices are valid for up to 5 passengers and are per car, not per person. Contact: Tel 0131 272 8222. |
By Tram: There is now a tram service. This links the airport with Edinburgh city centre. Trams take 30-35 minutes to get to the city centre. The website is http://edinburghtrams.com. Route: Airport - Ingliston Park+Ride - Gogarburn (for Royal Bank of Scotland) - Gyle Centre - Edinburgh Park Central - Edinburgh Park Station (railway interchange) - Bankhead - Saughton - Murrayfield (National Rugby Stadium) - Haymarket (railway interchange) - West End - Princes Street - St Andrew Square (for Waverley station and for Edinburgh bus station) - York Place.
By Train: Edinburgh's main railway station (Waverley) is in the city centre and can be reached by taxi or bus (the tram stops nearby at St Andrew's Sq). From here there are services to Glasgow and all over the UK. Most train services also stop at Edinburgh Haymarket station which is on the main bus and tram route between the airport and the city centre. General: | Public service bus stops are at stand 18 on the terminal forecourt road outside the UK arrivals hall. Other buses stop at the East end of the arrivals area from the bus shelters. Timetables are available from the travel desk in the UK arrivals hall and the information desk in the intl arrivals area. |
Airlink 100 Bus & 100 Express (100X) to the city centre: | Route: Airport (bus stand 19) - Maybury (For Marriot Hotel 5 mins) - Drum Brae - Edinburgh Zoo - Murrayfield (Rugby Stadium) - Haymarket (for trains) - West End, Princes St (at Frederick St) - Waverley Bridge, near to the main railway station and bus station. Timings: Buses now run 24 hrs a day. It runs every 10 mins at peak times through the day until 2130, and every 15 mins after. During the night hours it runs every 30 mins. Buses leave the city (Waverley Bridge) every 10-30 mins. Travel Time: Takes 25-35 mins. Buses leave Waverley Bridge in Edinburgh city centre. Free Wifi on board. Cost: £4 one-way, £7 return (children £2 single, £3 return). Tickets can be brought from a travel desk in the UK arrivals hall, the airport info desk in the Intl arrivals hall, or on the bus. Lothian Bus #35 to city centre & Ocean Terminal: | Lothian Bus service 35 goes from the Airport to the city centre (via a bit of a tortuous route, taking almost an hour) and then on to the Ocean Terminal. For a quicker journey, change at the Gyle Centre (after 10 mins) for the #12 straight down Corstorphine road to Princes St, saving 20 mins. Route: Airport - Ingliston Park & Ride - Gogarburn RBS - Gyle Centre - Edinburgh Park at Redheughs - South Gyle Crescent - Lightning Roundabout - Stevenson College - Bankhead Roundabout - Sighthill Colleges - Slateford train Station - Fountainbridge - Tollcross - Forrest Rd - Canongate - Holyrood Scottish Parliament - Easter Rd - The Shore - Ocean Terminal. Timings: Buses leave the airport Mon-Fri at 0558, 0634, 0659 then every 10-20 mins until 1932 then every 30 mins until 2302. Saturdays 0756, 0831, 0857 then every 15-25 mins until 1904, 1932 then every 30 mins until 2302. Sundays every ~30 mins 0945-2302. Buses leave Ocean Terminal in Leith Mon-Fri at 0452, 0552, 0622, then every 15-30 mins until 2148. Saturdays at 0649, 0743, 0803, then every 15-30 mins until 2148. N22 Bus to city centre: | The N22 night bus runs hourly to Waverley Steps in the city centre, at night only. Route: Airport (bus stand 19)- Edinburgh Park - Broomhouse Roundabout - Stenhouse Dr/Grove - Lothian Road (foot) - Opposite Waverley Steps - Omni Leith Street - Foot of Leith Walk & Ocean Terminal. Route: Edinburgh Airport - Newbridge - Broxburn - Uphall - St John's Hospital - Livingston Bus terminal - Morrisons - Mid Calder - East Calder - Wilkieston - Hermiston - Stevenson College - Gyle Shopping Centre - Edinburgh Park (RBS HQ) - Edinburgh Airport. Bus 777 runs in the opposite direction (see below). Timings: Buses leave the airport Mon-Fri every hour 0530-2230. Weekends every 2 hrs 0530-1930 & 2114. Bus 777 to Livingston: | A new bus has started running on a circular route in one direction only. Route: Edinburgh Airport - Edinburgh Park (RBS HQ) - Gyle Shopping Centre - Stevenson College - Herminston - Wilkieston - East Calder - Mid Calder - Livingston Morrisons - Livingstone Bus Terminal - St John's Hospital - Uphall - Broxburn - Newbridge - Edinburgh Airport. To Glasgow: | There is no direct service from the airport to Glasgow. However, the Edinburgh to Glasgow Citylink bus passes close to the airport. Use the Express Bus 100 and get off at Maybury Junction (only 5 mins). Citylink Buses stop here on their way to Glasgow Mon-Fri every 15-20 mins 0624-0022. At weekends, buses continue throughout the night every 2 hours or so, and then every 15-20 mins during the day. |
