Location: 11 km/7 Miles ENE of the City centre, near Zaventem.
Airport Overview: One large terminal. Taxis are on the Arrivals level (level 2), buses on level 0 and trains on level -1.
By Taxi: Metered taxis are available outside the arrivals hall on level 2. Licensed cabs have a yellow and blue emblem. To the city €36-45/20-30 mins.

| De Lijn Bus #359: | Runs to Roodebeek. Timings: Leaves once or twice an hour starting at 0606, 0706, 0736, 0806 etc. until 2106. Hourly at weekends 0832-2232. |
| De Lijn Bus #652: | Route: Leuven - Herent - Erps - Kwerps - Kortenberg - Zavantem - Cargo. Timings Runs Mon-Fri every 30-60 mins 0530-2200. Weekends every hour 0550-2250. |
| De Lijn Bus #682: | Runs to Mechelen & Luchtaven Zaventem Station. Timings towards Zaventem Station: Leaves the airport Mon-Fri only at 0626, 0656, 0726 & 0741. Timings towards Mechelen Station: Leaves the airport Mon-Fri every 30-60 mins 0607-2307. Weekends every hour 0627-2327. |

| De Lijn Bus #821: | Runs to Merchtem, Grimbergen, Vilvoorde & nearby Zaventem train Station in one direction and to Wolvertem Gemeenteplein in the other. Timings towards Wolvertem Gemeenteplein: Mon-Fri buses leave regularly 0720-2035. Saturdays & Sundays every hour 0713-2213. Timings towards Merchtem: Mon-Fri only, buses leave regularly 0705-2325. |

| Hotel Shuttles: | Various hotels provide shuttles from the basement area (level 0). The following hotels have shuttles: Holiday Inn Brussels airport, Crowne Plaza, Novotel, Mercure, Sofitel Brussels Airport, Ibis, Etap & Formule 1. |
| Bus To Brussels city centre: | The Brussels bus company MIVB/STIB operates a bus link between Brussels city centre (Hertogstraat/rue Ducale in the European quarter), the NATO site and the Airport. Route: There are 7 stops on the way to town: Troon/Trône-Luxemburg/Luxembourg-Schuman-Diamant-Genève-Germinal and NATO. Timings: This bus operates between 0457 & 2357 with 3 or 4 services per hour. Cost: A single ticket costs €3 (validity 1 hour). For season tickets (€45/month) please contact MIVB/STIB. |
| Bus #11 to Schuman (European Comission): | Route: Airport - NATO - Bazel - Germinal - Matisse - Lekaerts - Permeke - Vrijetijd - Evere Shopping - Geneve - Paul Leduc - Georgin - Mommaerts - Carina - Kolonel Bourg - P Reyers - Diamant - Opaal - Plasky - De Jamblinne de Meux - Guezen - Michel Angelo - Schuman (European Comission/Berlaymont). Timings: Buses run at weekends only, and not at all in July & August. They leave the airport on Saturday at 0540, 0645, 0751, 0840 then every 30 mins until 2310. On Sundays: at 0540, 0649, 0755, 0905, 0935, then every 15-30 mins until 2310. |
| Airport Express Bus#12 to the city center: | Route: Airport - NATO (7 mins) - Rue de Geneve (11 mins), Ave de Diamant Metro (18 mins) - Schuman Metro (22 mins) - Brussels City (Luxembourg). The most useful place to get off this bus for the city is at Schuman, as transfers to the Metro are very easy here. Timings: Buses leave the airport Mon-Fri only at 0540, then 2-4 times an hour until 2315. No Weekend service. |

| To Antwerp: | The Antwerp Airport Express goes to the Antwerp Crown Plaza Hotel and De Keyserlei (Antwerp Centre opposite McDonalds & the Century Shopping Center). Timings: Buses leave the airport every hour 0700-2300. Takes ~50 mins. Buses leave Antwerp Center 0530, then every hour 0700-2200. Buses leave Antwerp Crowne Plaza 0540, then every hour 0710-2210. | To Utrecht, Rotterdam & Breda: | A new bus servive to Utrecht, Rotterdam & Breda is due to begin in March 2009. |
| Scheduled coaches: | also run to European cities including Eindhoven, Mechelen, Grimbergen, Jette, Digem, Roodebeek, Liege, Rotterdam & Valenciennes from the bus station on level 0, below the arrivals hall. |

| General: | The train station is in the basement (level -1) of the terminal building and can be reached by elevator. It is well signed in the terminal. |
| Train Tax: | Note: There is now a tax (called DIABOLO TAX) of €4.33 added to the price of train tickets to and from the airport. More information in English is available at the railway company's website |
| Airport City Express: | Links the airport with Brussels South, Central and North Stations 4 times an hour. Cost: A one-way ticket costs €7.80 second class (including Diabolo tax) or €9.60 1st class (including tax). Timings: Runs 4 times an hour from 0500 till nearly midnight. Travel Times: Transit time to Brussels North Station near Place Rogier is ~15 mins. Timetable information is available on the Belgian Railways (SNCB/NMBS) website: enter Brussels National Airport as the departure or destination station. |
| Other trains: | In addition to the shuttle service to and from Brussels, there are now direct links with the west and south of Belgium as follows: 1: Gent - Wetteren-Aalst - Denderleeuw - Brussels - Brussels Airport. 2: De Panne - Diksmuide - Lichtervelde - Deinze - Gent/Ghent - Brussels - Brussels Airport. 3: Quévy/Quiévrain - Mons - Braine-le-Comte - Halle - Brussels - Schaerbeek - Brussels Airport. Timetable info for the whole of Belgium (and intl trains) is available in Dutch, English, French and German on the Belgian Railways website. The easiest way to find the right station is to enter Brussels National Airport (or Luchthaven Zaventem/Zaventem Aéroport) in the search field. |
| Future Plans: | A high speed train sevive from the airport to the Netherlands is planned for 2012. |
| Notes from a Traveller February 2011: | Note: Some younger travellers can buy a GO PASS which is valid for 10 trips within Belgium for a reasonable cost. Those who buy this ticket for travelling from/to the airport will have to pay the additional DIABOLO TAX as it is not included in the GO PASS. Older people can't use a GO PASS, but are eligible for a slightly more expensive RAIL PASS (similar deal as GO PASS but more expensive). They are also required to pay the additional Diabolo tax if travelling to or from the airport. There are very frequent ticket checks on board the trains just leaving or entering the airport, so be sure to have the right ticket. |

Baggage Storage: Coin operated luggage lockers are available 24 hrs a day in the bus basement (level 0). Locker prices are €7.50 per 24 hrs.

Traveller Tip: The train is a fast, frequent and reliable route into the city.

| Local bus to Charleroi train station: | Route: Airport - Jumet (Monument) - Charleroi Sud Train Station. From Charleroi Sud train station there are direct intercity services at :07 and :37, that take 45 minutes to Bruxelles and cost €8.60. These services continue to Antwerp (90 minutes). The last service leaves at 2307. Other direct services run to Liège at :00, where you can change for Cologne and Maastricht. Timings: Buses leave the airport Mon-Fri every 30 mins 0535-2235. Weekends every hour 0610-2310. Buses leave Charleroi Sud Train Station Mon-Fri every 30 mins 0530-2230. Weekends at 0545, then every hour 0635-2235. Travel Time: The service takes 18 minutes. Cost: The bus is operated by Flibco. The prices are now cheaper, but it depends when you buy - if you buy earlier it is cheaper. Prices are from €5 one way. Check flibco.com for more information. |
| Shuttles Brussels: | Autocars L'Elan runs shuttles from the airport to the main railway station in Brussels (Brussels Midi). The shuttle coach stop in the city is at the intersection of Rue de France and Rue de l'Instruction. Timings: Shuttles leave the airport daily every 30 mins 0845-2345.
