Boston - Logan (BOS):

Location: 5 km/3 Miles E of the city center.

Airport Overview: 4 terminals all fairly close together in a horseshoe configuration. Terminal E is the main International terminal. Buses connect the terminals, but it is possible to walk between some.
Driving Directions: The airport is now connected directly to the I-90.

Transfer between terminals: A free shuttle bus is operated by Massport to connect all the terminals and the Subway station. Routes 11, 55 & 88 (24 hr service) connect all terminals, though it is sometimes quicker to walk. Follow the signs. Walking Times: Terminal E to C 2-5 mins, C to B 5-10 mins. B to A 5-10 mins. A to E 5 mins.
Airport Shuttle Buses (Free): These provide free transport around the airport complex.
Route 11 links terminals A, B, C & E (but not the subway) 1200-2200 (2000 on Saturdays).
Route 22 serves terminal A & B and the Subway (train) 1200-2200 (2000 on Saturdays).
Route 33 serves terminals C & E and the subway 1200-2200 (2000 on Saturdays).
Route 55 serves all terminals and the subway. Runs 0400-1200 and 2200 (2000 on Saturdays)-0100.
Route 66 serves the terminals and the Logan Water Transportation Dock (see below) 0600 (0700 at weekends)-2330.
Route 88 serves all the terminals and the Economy Parking Lots 24 hrs a day.

By Taxi:
General: Taxis wait outside the baggage reclaim area on the ground/arrivals level of each terminal. At Terminal E, exit arrivals and go to the far left. Exit the building to find the taxi stand, where fares are posted.
Taxi Meters: Airport service fee $2.25. Initial charge (first eigth of a mile) $2.60, then $0.30 for each extra eighth of a mile. Each hour waiting $24. No charge for hand baggage. For trips beyond 12 miles from Boston, flat rate of $2.60 per mile. Tolls: Trips from Logan airport via the Sumner or Ted Williams Tunnel or the Tobin Bridge $6.50. Trips to Logan airport via the Callhan or Ted Williams Tunnel $2.25. No fees or tolls apply on trips to East Boston.
Approximate Costs: To Boston city center meter rates apply: $20-27/25-40 mins depending on traffic. To Cambridge (Harvard Square) ~$35. Other suburbs of Boston are by the meter.

MBTA Silver Line Bus SL1 to Boston South Station: Local bus calls at all terminal and then runs under the tunnel to the city. Route: Airport (all terminals) - Convention Centre - World Trade Center - Courthouse - Boston South Station (for Amtrak Rail services and Subway System). Timings: Buses run Mon-Fri every 10-15 mins 0538-0045. Saturdays every 12 mins 0533-0045. Sundays every 8-12 mins 0550-0045. Cost: Cash: Adult $2. CharlieCard $1.70. Pay on board or use the pre-pay CharlieCard ticket machines in the terminal.

Route 2025: Logan Airport - Boston South Station - Providence RI (Terminal, then Kennedy Plaza). Some buses continue to Providence Airport. Route 2030: Logan Airport - Boston South Station (30 mins) - Bourne (Cape Side Convenience) (1:40) - Falmouth (2 hrs) - Woods Hole (Steamship Authority Pier) (2 hrs 15). This bus connects with the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. Timings: Buses leave the airport daily at 0930, 1130, 1330, 1530, 1720 & 1920. Route 2040: Logan Airport - Boston South Station - Boston Copley Plaza - Fall River, MA - Portsmouth, RI - Middletown - Newport, RI (Gateway Center). Timings: Buses leave the airport daily at 0920, 1320, 1520, 1620 (not weekends or holidays. Terminates at Fall River), 1720 (not weekends or holidays) & 1920. Concord Coachlines to New Hampshire & Maine: New Hampshire Route: Airport (all terminals) - Boston South Station - Concord, NH (Transportation Center). Some buses go beyond Concord to other parts of the state. Timings: Buses leave the airport daily at 0715, 0925, 1125, 1340, then every hour until 1940 & 2125. By Water:
General: There is an airport dock near the Harborside Hyatt Hotel, not far from the airport. Free Shuttle bus #66 runs to the dock every 10 mins from all terminals. There is a phone at the dockside and at other stops to summon a taxi if there is not one waiting.
Harbor Express to Hull & Quincy: Hull Service: Mon-Fri only: Depart Logan Airport dock 0642, 1140, 1315, 1700, 1735 & 1835. Arrives at Hull 35-40 mins later. Ferries depart Hull at 0605, 0725, 1220, 1400 (change of boat at Quincy), 1740, 1815 & 1915. Cost: $12 one way. Seniors $10. Children 0-11 Free. Discounts for airport workers. MBTA Ferry to Boston Long Wharf: Ferries run 7 days a week to Long Wharf in Boston. Timings: Ferries leave Logan Airport Ferry Terminal Mon-Fri at 0622, 0642, 1000, 1030, 1120, 1210, 1240, 1330, 1415, 1525, 1615, 1700, 1750 & 1825. Weekends at 0830, 1010, 1040, 1150, 1315, 1440 & 1630. Cost: $13 one way for adults, half price for children etc.

By Train:
Subway Train: Free shuttle bus runs from all terminals to the Subway Station (5-10 mins) then Subway (Blue Line) to points all over city.
Route: The Blue Line runs as follows: Bowdoin - Government Center (transfer with Green Line) - State (transfer with Yellow Line) - Aquarium - Maverick - Airport - Wood Island - Orient Heights - Suffolk Downs - Beachmont - Revere Beach - Wonderland. Subway map.
Timings: The Subway runs 0530-0100 every 8-12 mins. Cost: Single ride $1.70 or 2. Day Link Pass $9. Week Link Pass $15. Subway fares are paid using a farecard system, known as Charlie Tickets of Charlie Cards. Charlie Tickets are disposable and rides cost $2. Charlie Cards are reusable and each ride costs $1.70. Machines selling cards are available in the arrivals areas of each terminal.

Amtrak: The overland rail system operates from Boston South Station which can be reached by the Silver Line bus SL1 or by Subway. From here, connections to all over the US are possible, with daily trains to New York, washington, Chicago and beyond.
