To and From the Airport

Denpasar/Bali - Ngurah Rai (DPS):

Location: 8 Miles/12 km SW of Denpasar & a short walk from Kuta Beach.
Airport Overview: Currently the airport is undergoing major expansion, and much construction work is in progress. This may result in long distances to walk to taxi stands etc. The International terminal is at the western end of the terminal complex, with the domestic terminal to the east. The domestic terminal is split into 2 buildings - arrivals and departures. The 3 terminals merge into each other and it takes about 5 mins to walk (under cover) between the 2.

By Taxi:
Airport Taxi Service: Airport taxis in Indonesia tend to be on the pre-paid voucher system. The official taxi counter can be found to the right of the International arrivals exit. It is to the left of Domestic arrivals. Your driver will then lead you to the taxi. From domestic arrivals this can be up to a 10 minute walk, 5 from Intl. The blue taxis belonging to Bali Taxi have meters but they aren't supposed to pick up at the arrivals exits. They can be found in the drop-off area near the domestic terminal. Prices are fixed, whereas other taxi drivers tend to haggle (you are likely to be approached by numerous private drivers on arrival). Prices for the airport taxis are displayed outside the terminal buildings.

Notes: Traffic between the airport and Kuta, Sanur and beyond can be terrible at peak hours so leave plenty of time, as most trips to and from the airport will use this stretch of road. To get lower taxi fares, it is possible to cross the car park and hail a passing cab on the main road.

By Bus: There are now virtually no public buses left that serve the airport. There are Perama Shuttle Buses to Bali Airport but they only operate twice a day, so are more of use in getting to the airport than in getting from the airport. The fare from Ubud to the airport is IDR 50,000, leaving Ubud at 0830 and 1800 only. These buses do not go to Denpasar but pick up at both Kuta and Sanur. Rental Cars:
On-Airport Rental Car Providers: AVIS 0361 701 770, open 0800-2200 Mon-Sun, Traffica Rent a Car, EUROPCAR, Indotrans, Toyota Rent a car 0361 753 744 (Intl arrivals) and 0361 755 033 (domestic arrivals) & Bali Tax are represented at the airport, either at the domestic arrivals area or at the international terminal.

Car parking: Car parks are opposite the international terminal. Cost: IDR 30 000 per 24 hrs.
Currency Services: Bureau de Change/Foreign Currency Exchange services are available in both the international and domestic terminal. ATMs/Cash machines are available in both the international and domestic departures terminal.
