To and From the Airport

Danang (DAD):

Location: 3 km/2 Miles W of Dannang city.
Updated Nov13.

By Taxi:
General: Taxis are readily available outside the terminal. There is an official list of taxi prices posted at the airport. To Danang city center ~US$ 3-7/VDN 70 000 - 150 000. To Hoi An VND 400 000-500 000/US$20-25. It is possible to agree a fixed rate price even though the taxi may still run its meter. Pay only the pre-agreed price. A return to Danang is usually cheaper, and costs around VND 350,000 - 400,000 (arrange this through any of the many small tour agencies in Hoi An).
Taxi Companies: From A Traveller Aug13: A good tip is to arrange transfer with your hotel, or use one of two taxi companies: MaiLinh www.mailinh.vn and Vinasun www.vinasuntaxi.com. The websites are in Vietnamese however the images of the taxi colors will be useful. Beware that there are ripoffs ("Vinasum", Vinasan", "MaiLing", etc etc). Using other taxis offers very high possibility of being ripped off and some have metered rates up to 3 times the standard rate. Same advice about MaiLInh and Vinasun applies to all other cities in Vietnam - these companies are present almost everywhere in Vietnam.

Notes from a Traveller January 2010: We rode in a taxi (it was POURING rain this morning and we didn't want to walk the 9 blocks to the Vietnam Airlines office to catch the bus!) and it took a full 51 minutes.

By Bus:
Vietnam Airlines Bus: Vietnam Airlines runs a bus service to the city. It leaves the city from the west side of Quang Trung (street) just south of Trang Thi (street). Cost: VND 35 000(US$3). Travel Time: 40 mins. Note: Buses leave when full, which can mean a wait. The bus usually drops people off at hotels close to the city centre. Buses to the airport depart from the Vietnam Airlines office. Book a seat in advance.
Bus #9: Runs to the City. Cost: VND 3000. From a Traveler in January 2008: From the city centre it departs from in front of an old looking building, possibly the Vietname airlines office, but does not really look like an office.
Bus #86: From HAN to old quarter area round trip. The fare is about 30,000VND each way (Feb 2017), no extra charge for luggage. The bus runs between the airport and the train station ( Ga Hanoi ) about every 30min with about 10 stops along the way. It takes about 1 hour from HAN to Train station.
City Bus#7or #17: Runs to Buho.

By Taxi:
General: To the city centre (district 1) VND 150 000-180 000. There are 3 types of taxis: Yellow Taxis, white airport taxis and Saigon taxis. Most taxis are metered but be careful of overcharging which is common.
Taxi Companies: From A Traveller Aug13: A good tip is to use one of two taxi companies: MaiLinh www.mailinh.vn and Vinasun www.vinasuntaxi.com. To find MaiLinh or Vanasun, when exiting the arrivals hall turn left for about 25 meters and you will see the MaiLinh and Vinasun taxi dispatchers. You may have to wait 10-15 minutes but the wait is worthwhile. Same advice about MaiLInh and Vinasun applies to all other cities in Vietnam - these companies are present almost everywhere in Vietnam.
Notes from a Traveller January 2010: There is no longer a booth inside the airport selling fixed-price taxi tickets to town. We went to the curb (it was 2300 local and we figured the bus would be sketchy then) and bargained a taxi down from US $20 to town to $8, but be prepared to do a bit of bargaining!

By Bus:

- Saigon Bus #152 to the city: Public Bus #152 runs from the airport domestic terminal to the City centre (Ben Thanh Market is final destination). Cost: VND 3000. Notes from a Traveller November 2009: The fare is indeed VND 3000 per person, but they also charge you VND 3000 for your bag (if it is large enough to occupy a seat). This is still less than US $0.35, but it’s worth being aware of this in case people are setting aside the cash to get to the airport at the end of a trip.
- Bus #109: This bus ride to District 1. It takes about 50min depending on traffic and the fare is 20,000VND (Feb 2017). They don't charge any extra for luggage or for foreigner. On the way, the bus stop few times to pick up or drop off people. This bus stops at domestic and international terminal of SGN.
- Bus #119: From Mien Tay long distance bus terminal to SGN. Fare is 20,000VND (Feb 2017). It takes 60min. This bus started running in late 2016. If someone coming from Mekong Delta area to Mien Tay bus terminal and need to go straight to the airport, this bus is pretty useful. This bus stops at domestic and international terminal of SGN.

Car Parking: Available right outside the terminal.
Airport Tax: Now included in the ticket price.
Airport Tel No: +84 (8) 844 0489.

Note: This city was previously known as Saigon.
