Ashkabad/Ashgabat/Aşgabat/Ашгабат (ASB):
Location: 6
km/4 Miles NNW of the City.
By Road: 10 km/6 Miles from the city center.
By Taxi: US$1-3, although drivers may ask for much more/10 mins. Privately owned cars also offer taxi services within the city and are generally safe.
Anyone wishing to use this service should raise an arm at the roadside and agree the destination and cost with the driver. Since most taxi
drivers speak only Turkmen and Russian, it is advisable to write down the address of the destination in Cyrillic or Latin script. Private taxis at
late hours can be unsafe and are not recommended for foreigners.
By Bus: Buses #1,
#18 & #22 run into the city. Cost: TMM 1000.
Car
Parking: TMM 5000 per day.
Baggage Storage:
Left luggage lockers available. US$2 per half day, US$3 for each full day.
Airport
Tax: Departure taxes are as follows: For passengers coming from CIS countries: US$15, and for other foreigners: US$25. Taxes for
foreigners on domestic flights are US$5. Entry Tax $10.
