| Turkish Visa on Arrival: At most major intl airports, and in particulat at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, visas are availabe on arrival. Most foreigners must buy a VISA for entry which is valid for between 1-3 months. No paperwork is required since this is a money making 'scam' rather than a true visa. There does not seem to be any way around it. Costs are: UK passports: £10/€15/US$20/3 months validity, US Passports US$20/€15/3 months, Australia US$20/€15/3 months, Canada US$60/€45/3 months, Norway US$30/€20/1 month, Austria US$20/€15/3 months, Hungary US$30/€20/1 month, Russia & Ukraine US$20/€15/2 months, Poland & Slovakia US$15/€10/1 month, most other European passports US$15/€10/3 months. |
Ankara - Esenboga (ESB): Location: 33 km/20 Miles N of the City. By Taxi: Taxis have meters. To the city center TRY 80 or more. (usually 100 to Cankaya). A taxi coordinator stands outside the terminal to arrange taxis for passengers. Thjere is no charge for this service. Going back to the airport, it should be cheaper, maybe as low as TRY 60. Takes 30-40 mins. By Bus: HAVAS bus to the Turkish Airlines City office at Gar Train Station. They leave soon after flight arrivals roughly every 30 mins 0400-2400. Cost: TRY 8.5/~US $6/40+mins. Travellers report that they are more comfortable (as well as cheaper) than the taxis!

Izmir - Adnan Menderes (ADB): Location: 17 km/22 Miles S of the City. By Taxi: US$20-30. Prices go up between midnight and 0600 and be sure to bargain to get the best price. By Bus: A Havas bus runs from the airport into the centre of the city via the Turkish Airlines offices near the Hilton Hotel. The bus leaves the airport ~every 30 mins 0415-2030. Cost ~US$2.60/30 mins. By Shuttle Van: ●Izmir airport transfers. By Train: A train operates every hour between the airport and Alsancak Gari in the city.
