Ubon Ratchathani (UBP):
Location: 3 km/2 Miles NE of the city center, almost within walking distance.
By Taxi: There are no meters on taxis in the city. Go to one of the 2 limousine/taxi counters in the airport arrivals hall and buy a THB 100 taxi coupon that will take you to most places in the city. Taxi rates in Ubon are extremely cheap by Western standards and lower than those in Bangkok. Set prices have been established to most destinations in and around Ubon. If you prefer not to take a fixed price taxi, you could walk the 200 metres beyond the airport parking area to haggle with the waiting tuk-tuk drivers. However, your trip may end up costing you more.

To Laos: There are 4 daily buses direct from the airport to Nong Khai's Friendship Bridge to Laos. Timings are roughly in accordance with flight arrivals. Buy THB 150 tickets at the taxi desk in arrivals. Note that these buses will drop you off into a pit of tuk-tuks, which will try to convince you that you need their services at 20 baht for the very short journey. Unless you have baggage, you can ignore them and just walk out to the road, from where you can see the Thai checkpoint less than 500 metres away.
