Rio de Janeiro - Galećo Intl (GIG):
Location: 11
Miles/18 km N of the City Centre.
By Taxi: Pre paid taxis operate from this airport. Vouchers can
be bought from a booth in arrivals. Generally, white radio taxis are more expensive than the white and blue Comum Taxis.
To City Centre US$15/20 mins. To Copacabana: US$25-35/30 mins.
By Bus: Empresa Real air-conditioned coaches run from 0520-0010 roughly hourly. They leave from the
first floor of the main terminal at the Galećo sign. One route goes to Santos Dumont Airport and the City Centre for US$3. The other
route goes along Copacabana beach and onto Ipanema, Leblon, Vidigal, Sćo Conrado and Barra da Tijuca for 5 Reals (US$3). Buses will
stop anywhere on the route. Buses going to the airport have Aeroporto Internacional written on the front and call at the major
hotels too.
