Location: 6 km/4 Miles N of Ayr between Prestwick and Monkton.
By Road: To Irvine 13 km/8 Miles, To Kilmarnock 14 km/9 Miles & to Glasgow 46 km/29 Miles.

By Train: The airport has its own train station, connected to the terminal by a cvered bridge over the road. ScotRail Trains run to and from Glasgow Central Station every half an hour (hourly on Sundays) and the journey takes ~45 mins. Trains route via Troon, Kilmarnock, Barassie, Irvine, Kilwinning, Johnstone, Paisley Gilmour Street (with bus link to Glasgow Airport) & Glasgow Central Station. Not all trains stop at al these stations. Fare to Glasgow £5.70 adult one-way, £7.35 cheap day return. In the other direction, trains run to Prestwick town & Ayr. Note: All passengers producing an air ticket or printed e-ticket are entitled to a 50% discount on any rail journey to or from Prestwick Airport. You may also be asked to show photo ID. Tickets from the airport must be bought on board the train. In addition, for the first six months of any new air route, passengers on that route are entitled to FREE rail travel to or from Prestwick Airport on the day of flying. Vouchers for free travel must be obtained by showing an air ticket or printed e-ticket at the airport information desk or a FirstScotRail booking office. Free vouchers cannot be obtained on board the train.

Stagecoach Bus #4: Slow stopping service. To Glasgow 1:40. Operates 7 days a week. Mon to Sat: To Glasgow from 0628 ~half hourly until 2313. From Glasgow from 0715 ~half hourly until 2220. Sunday: hourly each way: To Glasgow 0743-2233. From Glasgow 0920-2310. In the other direction, the bus continues to Prestwick Town & Ayr. Route: Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station - Glasgow Union St - Glasgow Eglinton Toll - Newton Mearns (Cross) - Fenwick (Kings Arms) - Kilmarnock Bus Station - Symington - Monkton (Cross) - Monkton Industrial Estate - Airport Terminal - Prestwick Cross - Ayr Bus station. Adult One way fares: To Kilmarnock £2.85 (28 mins), Fenwick £3.45 (45 mins), N Mearns £4.25 (60 mins) & Glasgow £4.65 (97 mins). To Prestwick Town 90p/3 mins & Ayr £1.30/15 mins. Children half price.
Express Service X77: To Glasgow ~ 1 hour, to Ayr ~ 15 mins. Operates from the airport terminal to Glasgow Buchanan Street and to Ayr in the other direction. Route: Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station - Glasgow Wellington St - Glasgow Waterloo St - (some buses stop at Kilmarnock Bus Station) - Airport Terminal - Prestwick Cross - Ayr Bus station. Timings: From the Airport Terminal to Glasgow: Mon-Fri: 0638, 0708 then every 30 mins from 0833 until 1933. Saturdays: 0638, 0733, 0813, 0833 then every 30 mins from 0833 until 1633, then hourly until 1933. Sundays: 1008, 1208, 1408 & 1608. From Glasgow to the Airport: Mon-Fri: 0735, 0815, 0835, 0905, 0920, 0935, 1005, 1035, 1050, then at 05 & 35 past each hour until 1505, 1540, 1605, 1620, 1635, 1700, 1735, 1750, 1850, 1935, 2035 & 2330. Saturdays: 0750, 0850, 0920, 0950 then every 30 mins until 1750, 1850, 1950, 2050 & 2330. Sundays: 1150, 1350, 1550 & 1750. Bus x99: Runs from outside the terminal to Glasgow Buchanan Street Bus Station. Runs daily except Xmas day from the airport 0530-2330 and from Glasgow 0445-0015. Fare: £7 one way. £12 weekly return (available on-line only). Takes ~1 hour. Connections are available at Glasgow Buchanan Street to Edinburgh (Waverley Bridge) using the X100 bus.
Note: There is another bus stop, under the bridge to the railway station. Leave the terminal by the fron exit and turn right. Under the bridge you will see a bus shelter. The following buses depart from here:
Stagecoach Bus #24: Runs to Prestwick Town & Ayr. Mon-Sat: 0515, 0915 then every hour until 1815. Sundays: No service
Stagecoach Bus #14: Runs to Prestwick Cross and Ayr Bus Station. Runs 0610-2335 every day except Sunday.
Bus #585:: Runs to Greenock & Ayr
Stagecoach Bus #4: Stops at this station on the way to Ayr.

Airport to Airport: Taxi to Glasgow Airport ~£45/30-40 mins. Train from Prestwick airport to Paisley Gilmour Street. Then take the bus to Glasgow airport from outside the station.
Notes: ATM & Currency exchange in the terminal. Left luggage is in the security department. The cost is £4 per bag per day, golf bags £5 per bag per day.

Steve's Tip: The train is a very convenient and relatively quick way of getting to Glasgow, and from there, to connect to the rest of Scotland & England.
