Halifax - Stanfield Intl (YHZ):
Location: 35 km/21 miles NNE of the City.
Airport Overview: One large, modern terminal on one level, divided into arrival and departure sides.
Driving directions: The airport can be reached from Highway 102 leading north from Halifax.
Note: Traffic in Halifax on weekdays between 1630 and 1800 can be awful, with bottlenecks on both bridges. On my visit in September 2007, it took me 90 mins to get to the airport, leaving downtown at 1645.
|General:||Taxi and limousine services are available from in front of the domestic arrivals area. Fare to Halifax is a flat rate of $53.Travel Time: 30-40 mins to downtown Halifax, but can take much longer at rush hour (1630-1800).|

Note: those hotels marked with a * are not scheduled stops on all runs, but stops can be requested. Passengers are requested to wait outside the front of each hotel. Note: The Airporter bus stop at the airport can be found by exiting the terminal next to the bus ticket office and walking to the right for 100 feet. It stops next to the Park N Fly sign.|

Buses sometimes wait 10-15 mins to fill up.|
|Cost: Adult One way CAD$18. Child under 10 accompanied by an adult free. Travel Time: Takes ~30 mins from the Holiday Inn Harbourview to the airport, and ~55 mins from the Lord Nelson Hotel. Note: Each passenger is allowed 2 regular sized bags. Each batg over this limit will be charged at $6 per bag. Oversized bags, as well as skis and golf bags will vbe charged at $6 each. The Airporter vans only seat about 20 people, and have little luggage storage. Hence, they easily fill up, so arrive early and claim your seat. Contact: Tel (902) 873 2091.|
|Student Bus:||There is a (possibly seasonal?) bus that runs direct to the campus of Dalhousie University & Saint Mary's University. Timings: Buses leave the airport daily at 1045, 1300, 1500, 1715 & 2030. Cost: $18 one way.|

|General:||There is a desk in the arrivals hall where bus tickets and information are available. Note: Due to ongoing construction work at the airport, Acadian buses may have moved to a temporary bus stop at the south end of the terminal, across from the Air Canada counter.|
|Acadian Bus to Truro, Moncton, Fredericton & Montreal:||Route: Halifax city - Dartmouth - Halifax Airport - Truro Bus Terminal (40 mins) - Amherst - Sackville - Moncton (3 hrs 15) - Fredericton (~6 hrs) - Perth/Andover (~8 hrs) - Grand Falls - Edmundston (~10 hrs) - Ville Degelis - Cabano - Riviere du Loup (~11 hrs) - Montreal (~17 hrs) - Ottawa - Toronto (~24 hrs). Timings: Buses leave Halifax airport daily at 0805 & 1335 (this service only runs as far as Montreal). An additional service leaves the airport at 1655, but only goes as far as Moncton. Timings: Buses leave Halifax airport daily at 1045, 1215 (terminates at Antigonish), 1415, 1655 & 1945 (terminates at Antigonish). Buses leave Sydney daily at 0630, 0730 & 1700. |The Cloud Nine Shuttle:||Runs from Yarmouth to Halifax city and airport. Timings: They try to pick you up at your door in or near Yarmouth by 0800, or if this is not possible, you are asked to meet the shuttle at MacDonald's for an 0800 departure. Arrival at Halifax Airport is between 1130 and 1230. Return from Halifax is at ~1500. Cost: $65 one-way. Contact: Tel 1 888 805 3335 or (902) 742 3992.|
|Campbell Shuttle Service:||Runs between Halifax Airport and Yarmouth. Timings: Shuttles depart Yarmouth Mon-Fri at 0800 and at 0830 at weekends, arriving in Halifax at 1200-1215. |Mariner Shuttle:||The Mariner Shuttle runs via Annapolis Valley to Digby County, which includes Digby, Weymouth and the villages that make up the Acadian municipality. Scenic tours also available. Timings: Shuttles leaves for the Halifax area between 0830 and 0930, leaving Halifax airport between 1230 and 1330. Reservations highly recommended. |Outdoor Parking:||Limited outdoor parking near the terminal (2 minute walk). Cost: $15 daily maximum & $75 weekly max.|
|Remote Parking:||Park N Fly offers remote car parking with free shuttle transfers to the terminal (2-3 mins drive). On arrival back at the airport, use the free phone next to the Ground Transportation desk to call a shuttle. Cost: $12 per day & $60 weekly max.|
|Notes from a traveller February 2010:||Warning: you may be towed without warning if you leave your car unattended on the "Arrivals" road, even if just going inside the airport to pick up a passenger. The signs are misleading and there are no 'Tow Away Zone' signs posted there at all. People should not park on that road anywhere, if they are not going to be in their car at all times. (They need to park in the Parkade).|

By Bus: No buses serve the terminal, but about once an hour, buses pass along the main road, 1.5 km/1 Mile from the airport, on the run from Sydney to Glace Bay.
