Location: 8 km/5 Miles W of Downtown Miami, 12 km/8 Miles W of South Beach & 38 km/24 Miles SSW of Fort Lauderdale.


Airport Overview:
One enormous terminal divided into 8 concourses. They are all joined together and you can walk from one end to the other, but this would take some time.

General: Taxis wait outside the baggage reclaim area on the ground level.
Meter Rates: $4.50 for the first sixth of a mile then $0.40 for each extra sixth of a mile. Waiting time $0.40 per minute. However there are set fares to many areas (see below)

By Local Bus:
The bus stop at the airport is on the arrivals level at terminal E. Exit the building and cross one road to find the bus station. Cost: The new easy-card is now in operation on Miami buses & Metrorail. Cards must be pre-loaded, and are then used to pay for trips. When using the easy-card the costs are as follows: Adult trip $2, (reduced fare $1), transfer $0.50 ($0.25). It is still possible to pay cash to the driver, but all trips are $2, no transfers available. The following buses serve the airport:
Bus 7 to Downtown Miami & Miami Springs: Route: City of Miami Springs - Miami International Airport - Little Havana - Downtown Miami Bus Terminal - Main Library - Historical Museum of South Florida - Miami Art Museum - MDC Downtown Campus - Overtown/Arena Metrorail Station. Timings: Buses leave the airport heading east towards downtown Miami & Overtown Mon-Fri every 30-60 mins 0516-2051. Saturdays every 40-60 mins 0620-1852. Sundays every 40-80 mins 0620-1953. Timings: Buses leave the airport heading North for Hialeah Mon-Fri every ~30 mins 0516-2126, 2212, 2302 & 0002. Saturdays at 0619, 0713, then every 30-45 mins until 1927, 2035, 2131, 2228 & 2328. Sundays every 30-60 mins 0627-2228. Buses leave the airport heading South for Miami South Mon-Fri every 30-40 mins 0534-2018, then every hour or so until 0114. Saturdays every 30-70 mins 0644-2306. Timings: Buses leave the airport Mon-Fri only heading South towards Jackson South Hospital every ~40 mins 0541-1816. 110 Route J Bus to Miami Beach & Douglas Rd:
24 hr service
Route: The J bus runs Eastbound from the airport to Miami Beach (41st St) via Miami Springs, NW 36 St & Allapattah Metrorail station. At Indian Creek Drive, it is possible to transfer to C, H or S buses southbound to South Beach. For the return to the airport from South Beach, take the S bus northbound to 43rd St, then the J bus westbound at 43st & Indian Creek or M bus Northbound to 41st St and change to the J. The J Bus also runs Westbound from the airport to Coral Gables and Douglas Rd Metrorail station. Timings: Buses leave the airport heading east towards Miami Beach Mon-Fri every 30 mins 24 hrs a day. Bus 133 - Airport Tri-Rail Shuttle: Route: Tri-Rail Airport Station - Wyndham Airport Hotel - Miami International Airport - Hertz Car Rental. Timings: Buses leave the Airport Mon-Fri every ~30 mins 0457-2122. Weekends every hour or so 0740-2110. Travel Time: Takes 5 mins. Cost: $2 per trip (see above). Contact: Tel 1 (305) 770 3131.
Bus 238 - East West Connection to Dolphin Mall: Route: Dolphin Mall - Miami Intl Mall - Carlos Albizu University - Airport Corporation Center - Blue Lagoon Dr - Airport Hilton Hotel - Tri-Rail Airport Station - Miami Intl Airport - Earlington Heights Metrorail Station. Timings: Buses leave the airport heading west towards Dolphin Mall Mon-Fri only every 30-60 mins 0548-1951. No weekend service. Cost: $2 per trip (see above). Travel Time: To Dolphin Mall 1 hour. By Long Distance Bus:
The bus stop at the airport is on the arrivals level at terminal E. Exit the building and cross one road to find the bus station. The following buses serve the airport:
Keys Shuttle Keys Shuttle runs shuttles from Miami Intl & Fort Lauderdale Airports to the Florida Keys. Route: Fort Lauderdale Airport - Miami Intl Airport - Key Largo - Tavernier - Marathon - Big Pine - Key West. Timings: Shuttles leave Miami Airport heading for the Keys daily at 1100, 1300, 1500, 1700, 1900 & 2100. To Key Largo $60 adult one way/1 hour 15, Marathon $60/2 hrs 30 & Key West $80/3 hrs 45. Greyhound Buses to Miami & Key West: Route: Downtown Miami (1012 NW 1st Ave) - Miami West (4111 NW 27th St) - Miami Airport (Ground Transportation center, lower level concourse E) - Cutler Ridge - Key Largo - Islamorada - Marathon Airport - Big Pine Key - Key West Airport.
Timings: Buses leave Miami Airport heading for the keys daily at 1245 & 1900. Buses leave Key West airport heading for Miami twice a day at 0855 & 1745. Takes ~4 hr 40 mins to get to Key West. Contact: Tel 1 800 410 5397.

The bus stop at the airport is on the arrivals level at terminal E. The following buses serve the airport:
For Miami Cruise Ship Terminal: Make your way to Downtown Miami, then use the Seaport Connection: Route: Downtown Miami - Government Center Metrorail Station - NW 2 Avenue - NW/NE 6 Street - Seaport - Port Boulevard - Seaport Terminals - Royal Caribbean - NW/NE 5 Street - NW 1 Avenue.
Hotel Buses: Hotel Courtesy buses collect passengers from the departures level.

By Train:
TriRail to Fort Lauderdale & West Palm Beach: There is no train station at the terminal itself, but Bus 133 - Airport Tri-Rail Shuttle connects the airport terminal with the nearby Tri-Rail station (5 mins). Train Route: Miami Airport - Hialeah Market - Metrorail Transfer - Opa-locka (14 mins) - Hollywood - Sheridan Street - Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport at Dania Beach (34 mins) - Fort Lauderdale (44 mins) - Cypress Creek - Pompano Beach (63 mins) - Deerfield Beach - Boca Raton - Delray Beach - Boynton Beach - Lake Worth - West Palm Beach (1 hour 41) - Mangonia Park. Timings: Trains leave the Miami Airport Tri-Rail station Mon-Fri at 0420, 0450, 0520, 0550, 0610 then every 30-60 mins until 1850, 1950 & 2120. Weekends every 2 hrs 0600-1800 & 1830. Cost: $2 - $9.25 depending on distance traveled.
Metrorail: 110 Route J Bus (see above) runs from the airport to Allapattah train station. Other buses connect to ther stations on the Metrorail network. Metrorail Route: Palmetto - Okeechobee - Hialeah - Tri Rail Station - Northside - Brownsville - Earlington Heights - Allapattah - Santa Clara - Civic Center - Culmer - Overtown/Arena - Government Center - Brickell - Vizcaya - Coconut Grove - Douglas Rd - University - South Miami - Dadeland North - Dadeland South. Timings: Trains run frequently 0500-midnight, Mon-Fri every 6-20 mins, and every 10-20 mins at weekends. Cost: The new easy-card is now in operation on Miami buses & Metrorail. Cards must be pre-loaded, and are then used to pay for trips. When using the easy-card the costs are as follows: Adult trip $2, (reduced fare $1), transfer $0.50 ($0.25). Super Shuttle A shared door to door van operating from the arrivals lower level to hotels and residences all over the Miami & Fort Lauderdale areas. See the desk by the roadside for tickets. State your destination, and a van will be assigned to you. You may have to wait up to 20 mins for a van going in your direction.
Cost: Prices are different for hotels and residences. Extra people going to the same address in the same party cost less. The following prices include the $1 fuel surcharge. Rental Cars:
On-Airport Rental Car Providers: ALAMO/National, HERTZ, AVIS, DollarBudget, Continental, ROYAL, VIPEnterprise, Interamerican & Thrifty all have desks in the baggage claim areas. The cars themselves are all at remote locations, connected by shuttles. Rental Car shuttles run regularly from the center median on the baggage claim level. There are signs hanging above the sidewalks where the rental car shuttles stop.

Car Parking:
There are 2 main car parks at the airport. Dolphin Garage for Northside airlines (Concourses A-E) and Flamingo Garage for Southside airlines (Concourses E-J). Choose the correct car park depending on which airline you are using. 
Short Term: In the Dolphin & Flamingo Garages: $4 for the 1st hour. $4 for the 2nd hour. $2 for the 3rd and 4th hours. $3 for the 5th hour. Daily max $15.
Short Term Premium: There is also short term parking outside concourse E at $2.50 per 30 mins with a daily max of $30.
Long Term: 1st hour $4, 2nd hour $4, 3rd hour $2, 4th hour $2, 5th hour $3. Daily max $15.
Valet Parking: 0-3 hrs $18. 24 hrs $30. Each extra day $30. Contact: Tel (305) 876 0118.
Economy: Economy Park & Ride Parking: 1st & 2nd hours $3 per hour. 3rd hour $2. Daily max $8.
Cellphone Parking: Available on the approach road to the airport, just west of LeJeune Rd/NW 31st St. Daytime use only.

Airport to Airport: To Fort Lauderdale Intl and Palm Beach Intl: Shuttle Bus to TriRail station then TriRail to FLL (40mins) and PBI (100 mins/$9.95 round trip, although some travellers report up to 3 hours!). Taxi to FLL airport $65. To Opa Locka Airport: Bus 42 (NW135St).
Baggage Storage:
Left Luggage is available 0500-2300 on the 2nd level (departures) between Concourses D & E (across from the American Airlines ticket desk). Cost: Per 24 hrs: $4-16 depending on size. Tel +1 (305) 869 1163.
Notes: Hotel booking board and phones are in baggage claim. Baggage Carts are avilable for $3. Cruise ships have desks on the 1st level of Concourses F & G.

By Bus:
There is no bus stop at the airport terminal itself. However, 10 mins walk to the south is NW 135th St. Cost: The new easy-card is now in operation on Miami buses & Metrorail. Cards must be pre-loaded, and are then used to pay for trips. When using the easy-card the costs are as follows: Adult trip $2, (reduced fare $1), transfer $0.50 ($0.25). It is still possible to pay cash to the driver, but all trips are $2, no transfers available. Several buses stop along this road:
E bus/Route 105 to Aventura Mall: Route: Miami Lakes Dr - NW 60th Ave - NW 138th St - NW 135th St (Just to the south of the airport terminal) - Opa Locka Tri Rail Station - NW 151st St - Opa Locka Blvd - 163rd St Mall - Sunny Isles - Collins Ave - Aventura Mall. Timings:  Buses run Mon-Fri every 30-45 mins 0555-2114. Weekends every ~45 mins 0914-1728. Takes a long time to reach Aventura Mall. Cost: $2 (see above).
Bus #28 to Hialeah Station: Route: Hialeah Metrorail station - E 4th Ave - E 65th St - E 8th Ave/LeJeune Rd - NW 135th St (Just to the south of the airport terminal) - Biscayne Blvd - North Miami Beach - Florida Intl University (Biscayne Bay Campus). Timings: Buses run Mon-Fri every 30-60 mins 0628-2050. Weekends ~hourly 0615-1916. Cost: $2 (see above).
Bus #42 to Douglas Rd & Golden Glades: Route: Golden Glades Park & Ride - Opa-Locka Tri-Rail station - NW 135th St (Just to the south of the airport terminal) - E 8th Ave - Miami Amtrak Station - Miami Intl Airport Terminal - LeJeune Rd - Douglas Rd Metrorail Station. On Weekdays, the route continues to Coconut Grove Metrorail station. Timings: Buses run Mon-Fri every 30-45 mins 0456-1840. Weekends every 30-45 mins 0610-1852. Cost: $2 (see above).

By Train: The TriRail Station is a short drive to the East of the Airport, and can be reached by the E bus or 42 bus (see above). The Tri Rail runs south to Miami airport and north to Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach County.
