Melbourne - Tullamarine Intl (MEL):
Location: 23 km/14 Miles NW of the City.
Airport
Overview: 3 terminals all close
together within walking distance. T1 is Qantas, QantasLink & JetStar domestic, T2 is
International & T3 is Virgin Blue, OzJet & Rex. Tiger Air also now flies out of a special building to the Left of Terminal 1.
By Taxi: To the City
centre A$43-50 including road tolls/20-30 mins. To Bendigo ~A$200. A $2 taxi parking fee now applies at
the Airport. This $2 per vehicle fee only applies to passengers leaving
Melbourne Airport from a taxi rank. A $3 per vehicle pre-booked taxi fee also
applies for passengers catching a taxi from the Premium Parking area opposite
the Intl Terminal.

| From a Traveller Mar 2009:: | I often travel to and from Glen Waverley (where I live) to Melbourne Airport for $3.40 (Senior’s Discount). Modus Operandi: Buy ticket at Glen Waverley Station and travel to Broadmeadows Station. Catch bus run by Tullamarine Bus Lines (500) to Melbourne Airport. It actually goes to Sunbury but goes via Melbourne Airport. It stops outside the International Airport. You need to get a timetable as it runs at limited times. I just remember to book my airline ticket for times when the bus is operating. The Information Desk at the Airport will NOT give you any information about this for some reason. The bus stop is where you catch the buses opposite the Hilton and car rental agencies. This information is available on the Metlink site. The non concession Adult rate would be a bit more (maybe $10-12) but still cheaper. You need to be able to manage your luggage easily and probably not go during student peak times. |
