Contact: Tel (34) 91 747 75 70 or Free Phone 900 713 583. Notes from a Traveller October 2009: Thought I'd update you on the Aerotaxi service in Madrid: The fare from the city centre (Atocha train station) to Barajas (Terminal 4) is now €23 for a shared car (although we actually had it to ourselves, for the same price). I booked by phone from the UK (00 34 91 747 75 70) then had to confirm by email, giving credit card details to secure the booking (but you can pay cash to the driver if preferred). They have good english-speaking agents at their call centre, and the car picked us up dead on time.

By Train:
Route: Metro line number 8 from Nuevos Ministerios (in the city centre) runs as follows: Nuevos Ministerios - Colombia - Pinar del Rey - Mar de Cristal - Campo de las Naciones - Airport T1, T2 & T3 - Barajas Village - Airport T4. Change at Nuevos Ministerios to other lines for stops all over the city. The metro also provides links to stations on the Spanish railway network-RENFE. Note: Nuevos Ministerios is a very large station, and changing trains here can involve a long walk.
Timings: The metro runs 0605-0200. Mon-Fri every 4˝-9 mins 0605-0700, then every 3˝ - 7˝ mins until 2400, then every 15 mins until 0200. weekends every 6-15 mins 0605-0200.
Cost: €1 for a single journey and €7 for 10 trips. Trips to and from the airport terminals are subject to an Airport Supplement fee. This is €2 for a single journey, or €1.70 if using a 10 trip book. Children under 4 are free. Ten-ticket passes are also valid on the buses, but not for the buses to the airport. Note: A Traveller in November 2008 reported the following: Cost: €17 ticket fee + €1 airport supplement for each person using the same ticket /10 trip ticket (ie wife & I used the same 10 trip ticket. Cost was thus €17 + €2 airport supplement. The question asked in the English version on the ticket machine is confusing. If insufficient supplement is paid the ticket will not operate the airport barriers the required number of times. A supplementary fare can be paid & added to the ticket via a (special) ticketing machine).
Contact: There is a rail info desk (tel 091 305 8544) at the airport. Metro also stops at Plaza Colón and Mar de Cristal.
