Airport Overview:
General: 9 terminals, all a short distance from each other, but unless you are transferring to the terminal next door it could be too far to walk comfortably. The LAX shuttle connects all the terminals for free. To check which terminal you need, see Airline Locations below.
Airline Locations: Term 1: Gates 1-19: Southwest and US Airways.
Term 2: Gates 20-29: Air Canada, Air China, Air France, Air New Zealand, Aviacsa, Avianca, Hawaiian, KLM, LACSA, Northwest, TACA, Virgin Atlantic & Westjet.
Term 3: Gates 30-39: Alaska, Horizon, V Australia & Virgin America.
Term 4: Gates 40-49: American Airlines, American Eagle, Midwest, QANTAS & the Heliport.
Term 5: Gates 50-59: Aerolitoral, Aeromexico, Air Jamaica & Delta.
Term 6: Gates 60-69: AirTran, Copa (Departures), Continental, Frontier, Spirit, Sun Country & United (Intl flights).
Term 7: Gates 70-79: United domestic & TED.
Term 8: Gates 80-89: TED & United Express

Ground transport at LAX is organised according to coulored signs hanging from the ceiling outside the arrivals level of each terminal. For example LAX shuttle bus C to the bus transit center/MTA City Bus Center leaves from under the blue sign, and the LAX Shuttle A Bus connecting the terminals leaves from under the white sign. Rental Car Shuttles leave from under the Purple signs, Buses & Long distance vans under the Green signs, Shared Vans/Shuttles from under the Orange signs, and Hotel and Courtesy shuttles from under the Red signs.

By Taxi:
To Downtown Los Angeles $38/30-35 mins, To Santa Monica $30-36/20-25 mins, To Disneyland $70, To Hollywood $30, To Beverly Hills $24, to Redondo Beach $22/20-25 mins.

Buses calling at the Terminals:
LAX Shuttle Buses buses stop at each terminal (under the Blue signs) every 10-20 mins: LAX Shuttle Bus A connects all the terminals with each other. Free bus.
LAX Shuttle Bus B connects all the terminals with Parking Lot B at 111th St. Free bus.
LAX Shuttle Bus C connects all the terminals with Parking Lot C, the LAX transit Center/MTA City Bus Center at 96th st, for onward connections, eg to Santa Monica & the off-airport car rental center. Free bus.
LAX Shuttle Bus G connects all the terminals with the Aviation Station on the Metro Green Line. Free bus.
FlyAway Bus to Los Angeles Union Train Station (24hr service): Route: A non-stop bus service now operates all day and evenings from LAX to 3 destinations: 1: Union Station (Patsaouras Transit Plaza, Berth 9) in downtown LA. 2: Van Nuys (San Fernando Valley). 3: Westwood (West Los Angeles). Pickups and Drops are made at each terminal at the airport. Because of the use of high occupancy vehicle lanes, the trip takes just 45 mins in rush hour and even less at non peak times.
Timings: This service operates every 30 mins (on the hour and half hour) 0500-0100. There is also an hourly service 0100-0500 on the hour. Cost: $3 each way for adults or $2 for children (2-12). Gray Line Disneyland Express: Runs to Anaheim Hotels & Disneyland every hour 06000-100, then every 30 mins until 1900, 2000, 2100, 2200 & 0000. Reservations not needed. Contact: Call free from the courtesy phones in baggage claim or Tel 1 800 828 6699.
Airport Bus to Anaheim (for Disneyland) and to Buena Park. Tel (800) 772 5299.
Airport Bus of Bakersfield: Route: Runs to Bakersfield. Timings: Buses depart the airport at 1030, 1200, 1500, 1900 & 2230. Buses depart Bakersfield at 0300, 0500, 0900, 1300 & 1800. Cost: $32 adult one way, $54 round trip. Child (6-12 years) $17 one way, $29 round trip. Children 5 and under free. Travel Time: Takes ~2:30. Antelope Valley Airport Express: Route: Calls at all terminals and runs to Newhall, Palmdale, Santa Clarita Valley and Lancaster in the Antelope Valley. Timings: Departs the airport at 0730, 1100, 1300, 1500, 1700, 1930 & 2200. Cost: $38. Contact: Tel 1 800 251 2529, (805) 945 2529 or call free from the courtesy phones in baggage claim.
Central Coast Shuttle: Route: Runs to Santa Maria & Buelton. They also drop off in Ventura, Santa Barbara, Buellton, Solvang area, Santa Maria. It picks up under the green sign at all terminals where it says buses and long distance vans. Timings: It departs LAX at 0900, 1201, 1500, 1900 and 2200. Cost: One way to Santa Maria $65. Travel Time: Transfer time to Santa Maria or Bueltton about 3.5hrs. In adition to the above, they run luxury mini-buses. Flyaway Van Nuys Runs to Woodley Ave at Saticoy St. Calls at all terminals. Timings: Runs every 30 mins 0530-2400, with some extra frequencies too. Cost: $3.50 $6 round trip. Contact: Call 1 818 994 5554.
Santa Barbara Airbus Route: To Carpenteria, Santa Barbara & Goleta. Calls at all terminals. Timings: Departs the airport at 0800, 1030, 1300, 1530, 1800, 2030 & 2300. Takes up to 2 hrs. Cost: $40. Contact: Tel 1 800 423 1618 or call free from the courtesy phones in baggage claim.
Metropolitan Express to downtown Los Angeles & Union Station. Calls at all terminals. Tel (310) 417 5050 or (800) 338 3898.
Ventura County Airporter Route: to Ventura (4 points Sheraton Hotel) and Oxnard Airport. Calls at all terminals. Timings: Departs the airport at 0630, 0830, 1100, 1300, 1515, 1730, 1930 & 2130 (except Saturdays). Contact: Tel (805) 650 6600 or call free from the courtesy phones in baggage claim.
Note for travelers: All inbound buses & vans, and the LAX shuttles, unload on the Upper/Departure Level. Frequent, free shuttle service is provided between terminals (~every 12 to 15 mins) to get from one terminal to another. To use this service, board the Airline Connections "A" Shuttle under the LAX Shuttle & Airline Connections blue sign on the Lower/Arrival Level islands in front of each terminal.

Buses departing from the LAX Transit center/MTA City Bus Center (connected to terminals by free LAX Shuttle Bus C which calls at all terminals):
Big Blue Bus #3 to Marina del Rey & Santa Monica Route: Bus No3 runs from the Metro Green line station, to the LAX Transit Center/MTA City Bus Center, then along Lincoln Ave to Marina del Rey and Santa Monica. It then turns up Montana Ave to Brentwood, terminating at the UCLA Transit Center. For West Hollywood, change at Santa Monica onto the 304 Bus which runs up Santa Monica Blvd. Timings: Buses leave the LAX Transit Center weekdays ~every 10 mins 0540-0010, Sat ~every 20 mins 0600-2346 & Sun ~every 30 mins 0615-0010. Cost: $0.75 (disabled and seniors $0.25). Exact money needed as no change given. Travel Time: To Santa Monica ~35 mins, to UCLA ~60 mins. Contact: Tel 310 451 5444.
Rapid Bus #3 to Sta Monica: Runs on the same route as the #3 bus above, but with fewer stops and only running as far as Santa Monica. It only runs at peak hours. Every 15 mins 0600-1000 & 1400-1900.
Bus Line #6 to UCLA Westwood via Sepulveda Blvd: Route: MTA Green Line Station - LAX Transit Center - Fox Hills Mall Transit Center - Sepulveda Ave - Wilshire Blvd - UCLA Westwood. Timings: Buses leave the LAX Transit Center Mon-Fri every 10-20 mins 0525-1650, then every 30-60 mins until 2256. Weekends & Holidays every 20-30 mins 0558-1954 then hourly until 2256. Takes ~ 60 mins to reach UCLA. Cost: $0.75 (disabled and seniors $0.25). Exact money needed as no change given.
Torrance Bus #T8 to Torrance: Route: LAX Transit Center - Douglas Blvd - Aviation Blvd - Manhattan Beach - Artesia Blvd - Hawthorne Blvd - Del Amo Fashion Center - Torrance. Timings: Buses leave the LAX Transit Center Mon-Fri every 20-35 mins 0600-2235, then every 30-60 mins until 2256. Weekends & Holidays: reduced service. Travel Times: Takes ~ 60 mins to reach Torrance. Cost: $0.75 (disabled and seniors $0.25). Exact money needed as no change given.
Metrobus #42 to Downtown Los Angeles/Union Station: Route: LAX Transit Center - Stocker/Crenshaw - M L King Jr/Vermont - Patsaouras Transit Center - Union Station. Timings: Buses leave the LAX Transit Center Mon-Fri ~every 20-30 mins 0511-1906. Later buses only go on part of the route. Saturdays: every 30-40 mins 0542-1906. Metrobus #111 to Florence Ave/Whittwood Mall: Route: LAX Transit Center - Florence/Crenshaw - Florence\Metro Rail Station (some buses continue to Whitwood Center. Timings: Buses leave the LAX Transit Center Mon-Fri at 0452, 0829, 0859, 0931, 1203, 1958, 2019 & 2117. Weekends & Holidays every 60 mins 0504-1919. Cost: $0.75 (disabled and seniors $0.25). By Train:
Metro Trains: There is no train station at the airport itself, however there is a Metro train station nearby, called Aviation/LAX (located at Aviation/Imperial Blvd). This is reached by the free bus: LAX Shuttle bus G., which departs from under the Blue sign outside each terminal lower level.
Routes: Aviation/LAX is on the Green line, which routes as follows: Redondo Beach - Douglas - El Segundo - Mariposa - Aviation/LAX - Hawthorne - Crenshaw - Vermont - Harbor Freeway - Avalon - Imperial/Wilmington (change here for the Blue Line to Long Beach City & 7th St/Metro Center) - Long Beach - Lakewood - Norwalk.
Cost: Adult $1.35.
Amtrak Trains: The nearest station is Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles, reached by Flyaway bus (See bus section above) or by the Metro train (2 changes needed).

Airport to Airport:
To Orange County Airport: By Road: 67 km/42 Miles. By Bus: An Airport bus service is reported to take 110 mins. No details yet. By Taxi $90-107. By Shuttle Van: Shuttle 2000 (see shuttle Van section above).
To Long Beach Airport: Bus 30-65 mins. No details yet. Taxi $49.
To Palm Springs Airport: Coach reported to be available.
To Ontario Airport: Taxi $143, Coach $6-10/35 mins. Shuttle van $25.
To Burbank Airport: By Road: 47 km/29 Miles. By Taxi: ~$66/45-60 mins.
To Van Nuys Airport: Van Nuys FlyAway Bus runs 24hrs to Van Nuys Airport 0445-0800 every 15 mins, 0800-0100 every 30 mins. It leaves Terminal 1 and picks up at the Buses & Long Distance Vans (Green sign) on the lower level.

Off-Airport Rental Car Providers:

Car Parking: Perimeter Lots B (long stay) & C (short stay) offer 2 hrs free parking. The Shuttle bus to the long term lot leaves from under the Blue sign. There is a cell-phone waiting lot on the corner of Airport Blvd & Arbor Vitae St.
Notes
: ATMs/Cash machines in all terminals. Baggage carts available to rent at $4. Wireless internet available in the terminals at a cost.
Baggage Storage:
Left luggage facilities are NOT available at any of the terminals. However, there a a few off-airport companies that will store bags. Call them and they will collect your bag and return it at a specified time. Companies include: AeroEx 1-866 237 6399 or (310) 670 2834. Small bags $5 per day, medium bags $7 & large bags $11.
