Krakow/Crácow
- John Paul II/Balice (KRK):
Location: 14 km/9 Miles W of
the City.
Airport Overview: 2 terminals some distance apart. Terminal 1 is the
main terminal and is for all International flights. Terminal 2 is much more
basic and is for domestic flights only. You can walk between the 2 terminals in
5-10 mins. From T2, exit and turn right, down the steps, turn right and keep
walking. From T2, exit and turn left, keep walking. Apart from taxis, all the transport options serve Terminal 1.
A free shuttle bus is reported to run between the 2 terminals.
By Taxi: Taxis
wait outside both terminals. Radio Taxi Tel 9191. Cost: To Krakow city
centre PLN 50-70/15-20 mins, to Zakopane PLN 500-600/2 hrs.

The bus stop is to the right
after leaving Terminal 1, just round the corner. Tickets are available either from the
ticket machine next to the information point in the passenger
terminal (PLN 2.60) or on board (PLN 3). Day tickets available for PLN
12.60. Note that if you have any
baggage larger than a rucksack, you will have to buy a ticket for it.
Validate tickets after boarding to avoid fines. No buses run to Terminal
2. |

New Train
to Krakow Station: |
General: A new train service now connects the airport to the
city. It runs from the airport station to
central Krakow. |
|
Getting
to the Airport Station: A shuttle bus runs from outside Terminal 1
(Intl) a few mins before train departures. From Terminal 2 (domestic),
you must first walk to Terminal 1. Alternatively you can walk the 200m
to from T1 to the airport station: Exit the terminal, turn right then
left, keeping the forest on your right. Follow the frequent signs. The station is very basic, being just
a platform and a track in the middle of a field. Total walking time from
T1 5-10 mins, from T2 15-25 mins. |

Non-stop service from the Airport station to Krakow Glowny
Station/Main train station in Krakow. |

Timings:
Trains run every 30-40 mins 0424-0010. Trains depart the airport
station daily at 0010, 0124 (Wed Fri & Sun only), 0424, 0524, 0624,
0724, then every 30 mins until 2124, 2224 & 2324. Trains leave Krakow
Glowny Station daily at 0033 (Wed Fri & Sun only), 0416, 0516, 0617,
0717, 0747, 0817, 0846 then every 30 mins until 2116, 2216, 2316 & 2346. Transfer Time: ~15 mins.
Starts very slowly, but soon picks up speed. |

Cost: Tickets are only available on board and cost
PLN 6. Luggage free of charge. |

Parking: Opposite Terminal 1: PLN 6 per hour. 1 day PLN 40, 2 days
PLN 80, extra days PLN 20. A new multi-storey car park is under construction
opposite Terminal 1. Parking is also available outside Terminal 2.
Cash Services: 2 ATMs/Cash machines in Terminal 1
only. Bureau de Change in Terminal 1. No facilities at all in T2.
