Terminal 1: Is for Aeroflot, Aeromexico, Air China, Air France, Alitalia, Austrian, China Airlines, China Eastern, Japan Air Lines, Korean Air Lines, Lufthansa, Olympic, Royal Air Maroc, Saudia Arabian & Turkish.
Terminal 2: Is for Delta domestic flights except LAX, SFO & SEA.
Terminal 3: Has now been demolished.
Terminal 4: Is for Aerolineas Argentinas, AeroSvit, Air India, Air Jamaica, Air Tahiti Nui, Asiana, Avianca, Azteca, Biman, Caribbean/BWIA, Continental, Continental Express, Copa, Czech Airlines, Delta (Intl flights and LAX, SFO & SEA), Egyptair, El Al, Emirates, Etihad, Harmony, Jet Blue (San Juan only), KLM, Kuwait, Lacsa, LAN, LOT, LTU, Mexicana, North American, Northwest, Pakistan, Royal Jordanian, Singapore Airlines, South African, Sun Country, Swiss, TACA, TAM, Thai, USA3000, Uzbekistan, Varig, Virgin.

By Road: Note that traffic can be terrible between JFK and Manhattan, with transfers taking upto 2 hrs at worst times. Using the SkyTrain will help to avoid this uncertaintly.


By Taxi:
General: Except to Manhattan, the fare within New York City is metered plus tolls, if any. Tipping is optional. There is a 50 cent surcharge for trips commencing between 2000 and 0600 (except to Manhattan). One fare pays for all passengers. 4 passengers is the limit for New York City cabs. Meter must read $3 at the start of the trip (except to Manhattan).
Meter Rates: Initial charge: $3. Then $0.40 per fifth of a mile or per minute stopped. $1 surcharge applies weekdays 1600-2000. $0.50 surcharge applies at night (2000-0600).
Typical Fares: Tolls are in addition to metered fares and are shown later.
To Manhattan (Flat Fare to all parts): $45/40-100 mins depending on Traffic, Between the Terminals: $3-$9, Brooklyn: $26-$45, Cruise Ship Passenger Terminal ~$35+tolls, The Bronx $39-$44, Queens $17-$20, La Guardia Airport $26-30, Coney Island: $34-38, Kew Gardens $16-20, Shea Stadium $22-26, Co-op City $42-46, Riverdale $51-55, To Staten Island $51-$58, Lynbrook $18/20-30 mins & Newark Airport $74-78 + $15 tolls.
Tolls are as follows: $3.50 at the Queens Midtown Tunnel, the Triboro Bridge, and the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel. It should be noted that the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel has been closed to westbound traffic since 9/11/01. There is no toll at the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge or Queensboro (59th Street) Bridge, but these East River crossings could be less direct or more congested for your trip.

By Public Bus:
General: These buses depart from the public bus stop on the east side of terminal 4. From other terminals use the AirTrain to connect.
MTA Q3 bus to Jamaica: Route: Airport (Terminal 4, public bus stop on east side of terminal: out and turn right) - N Boundary Rd - Farmers Blvd - Hillside Ave - 165th St Bus Terminal, Jamaica.
Timings: Runs 24hrs every 12-30 mins.
Cost: $2.25. Payable in cash or with a Metrocard.
MTA Q10 bus to Kew Gardens: Route: Airport (Terminal 4, public bus stop on east side of terminal: out and turn right) - Conduit Ave - Lefferts Ave (not AirTrain stop) - Austin St/Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike Subway Station.
Timings: Runs 24hrs every 3-30 mins.
Cost: $2.25. Payable in cash or with a Metrocard.
MTA Q10A bus from Kew Gardens: Route: Austin St/Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike Subway Station - Van Wyck Expressway - Airport (all terminals). Operates towards the airport only.
Timings: Runs weekday mornings every 20 mins.
Cost: $2.25. Payable in cash or with a Metrocard.
MTA B15 Bus to Brooklyn: Route: Airport (Terminal 4, public bus stop on east side of terminal: out and turn right) - Lefferts Blvd AirTrain stop - S Conduit Ave - Fountain Ave - Dumont Ave - New Lots Ave - Hegeman Ave - Church Ave - E 98th St - Ralph Ave - Buffalo Ave - Bergen St - Troy Ave - Lewes Ave - Broadway/Marcus Garvey Blvd.
Timings: Runs 24hrs every 14-30 mins during the day and every 45 mins at night.
Cost: $2.25. Payable in cash or with a Metrocard.

By Shuttle Van:
Westchester Express: Routes: Runs to Westchester, Putnam & Rockland Counties.

Classic Airport Shuttle: Runs to destinations on Long Island. Freephone at transport info center.
Connecticut Limousine LLC: Runs to Westchester Co & Connecticut. Freephone at transport info center.
American Skybus: Runs shared ride shuttles connecting Newark, NJ and JFK. Departing every 2 hrs from 0500 from outside Greyhound bus Stop on the Hilton side of Penn Station in Newark City to all Airline Departure levels at JFK. Shuttles leave Terminal 4 passenger pickup ramp on the vehicle Exit end from 0600. Tel 877 775 9287.
Trans-Bridge Bus Lines: Runs vans to Hunterdon, NJ, Warren, NJ, Lehigh, PA, Bucks, PA & Northampton, PA. Contact: There are free courtesy phones in each terminal at the Ground Transportation info desks.
Winston Transportation: Offers vans and private transfers. Call 1 800 424 7767 or (631) 924 1200.
Hotel Shuttle Buses: Various hotels run shuttle buses. These stop at Federal Circle (next to Rental car Center). Take AirTrain for free from the terminals.

By Train:
AirTrain Rail service: Air Train is a monorail train that stops at all terminals at JFK and runs very regularly on 3 different routes: Red Route: to Jamaica Station on Long Island. (Note Jamaica LIRR train station coincides with Sutphin Blvd Archer Av JFK Airport Subway station. Confusingly, this combined station is also known as AirTrain stop D). Green Route: to Howard Beach Subway station. Yellow Route: Runs between the terminals. The Red & Green routes also stop at Station C (Federal Circle which houses the Rental Cars, Cargo & Hotel shuttles. Cost: $5 per person, and the ride takes 10-15 mins. Transfer between terminals and to the Rental Car Center is free. Buy a metrocard from the machine with US dollars or credit card. Timings: Air Train operates Mon-Fri 0500-0300 every 7-15 mins and at weekends 0400-0300 every 12-30 mins.
Transfer at Howard Beach (Station A) to the A line subway trains (every 5-20 mins) for a slower but cheap ($2.25) run into Manhattan, or at Sutphin Blvd/Jamaica to the E, J or Z lines (every 5-12 mins $2.25).
Transfer to LIRR (Long Island Railroad) at Jamaica for a faster train to Penn Station (Manhattan), and destinations on Long Island such as Lynbrook, Babylon, Hempstead, Garden City, Queens, Brooklyn, Huntington, Oyster Bay, Westhampton, Montauk, Southampton, East Hampton, Islip, Greenport, Ronkonkoma, Deer Park & many more. Total cost to Penn station in Manhattan $13/30-45 mins. Be warned, the LIRR services from Penn station before 0700 on weekends & holidays are infrequent.

Timings: Runs ~every 30 mins 0700-1700 from JFK. Cost: To La Guardia Airport $12.50 one way. Transfer Times: To La Guardia 25-60 mins+.

All County Express Bus is reported to run to LGA.
To Newark Intl: Taxi $75 + tolls. 75-90 mins.
Airporter: Runs scheduled vans ~every 2 hrs 0700-1700 ex EWR & 0900-1900 ex JFK. Takes 90 mins. Cost: From $27/90 mins+. Contact: Tel (1-800 385 4000 or 609 587 6600). Freephone at transport info center.
Newark Airport Service runs buses for $22 one way.
Olympic Airporter Bus is reported to run to Newark Airport.

Rental Cars:
On-Airport Rental Car Providers: Take the AirTrain free to Station C: Federal Circle which houses the Rental Car Center: AVIS, Budget, Enterprise, Dollar, HERTZ & National all have desks here. There are free courtesy phones in each terminal at the Ground Transportation info desks to contact the various companies.

Car Parking:
Short Stay: Terminal Parking next to each terminal: $3 for the first 30 mins, $6 for 1 hour, $3 for each 30 mins thereafter. Daily Max $33.
Long Stay: Long Term Parking is located at Lefferts Blvd near Pan Am Rd, 4 miles from the terminals. Cost: $18 for the first day, then $6 for for each 8 hour period.
Cell Phone Parking: Cell phone parking lots, located within 5 minutes of major airport terminals, are intended to reduce airport congestion. Motorists coming to the airport for arriving passengers can go to one of the cell phone parking lots. Once the arriving party reaches the terminal sidewalk with luggage in hand, he or she makes a call. The waiting motorist can be curbside within minutes to quickly pick up the traveler and be on their way. JFK airport has such parking lots.

Notes: For help on transport to/from all NYC Airports call 1 800 AIR RIDE. The closest public transport to the New York Cruise Passenger Ship Terminal is the A, C or E train at the 50th St. station (at 8th Ave). Cross town City buses are also accessible from 52nd St at 12th Ave. Airport information desks and Hotel Booking Desks are in the arrivals areas of most terminals. Luggage Carts/Trollies are available for rent at $5 each.
Baggage Storage: Left luggage facilities reported to be available in most terminals. Terminal 4 certainly has it.
Currency Services: ATMs/Cash Machines and Bureau de Change in arrivals levels of most terminals.
Airport Hotels: There are many hotels near the airport, most of which can be contacted free from the information boards in arrivals. There is a hotel reservation desk in the arrivals area of each terminal. JFK Inn Tel 1 800 734 5199 runs a shuttle to the airport.
Steve's Tip: Although far from a perfect solution, probably the most reliable (and not overly expensive) way to and from Manhattan is to take the AirTrain to Jamaica (Station D) and transfer to the LIRR to Penn Station.
