To Hamburg:
An airport bus runs from Hamburg to and from Lübeck airport with journeys arranged to meet flights to London Stansted on Ryanair.
Transfer time is ~1 hr 15 and costs €8 one-way.
By Train:
General:
Lübeck
Airport now has an own station "Lübeck Flughafen". The station is
outside the terminal and ~200m to the left. It is under a bridge, and
you can use an elevator to the platform.
Route:
To travel to
Hamburg, there is a choice of 2 routes, both involving a change of
train: 1 via Lubeck and the other via Buchen.
Timings:
Trains run
once an hour on both routes.
Cost:
To Lübeck Central: €2.95, takes ~8
mins. To Hamburg via Lübeck Central: €14, takes ~71 mins. To Hamburg via
Büchen: €12.10, takes ~65 mins. Note: The "Schleswig-Holstein-Ticket" is the best ticket to get around Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
It costs €30 Euro and is valid for 5 people for 1 day. You can use any regional-train-services (RE, RB and S-train-services) in the whole region.

Note:
there are 2 different prices (via Büchen and via Lübeck), but it's
better to use the train via Lübeck Central, it's easier to get into the
really comfortable train to Hamburg and you can use the 15 min in Lubeck
for a snack at the bakery, Wok-express or McDonalds.
