The new Suvarnabhumi airport is now open for all domestic and international flights. Note: Thai Airways International is moving all of its domestic routes, except those involving Phuket, Chiang Mai and Khon Kaen, to Don Muang airport once the Cabinet approves its reopening. Check before travelling.

Bangkok - Don Muang Intl (DMK):  Location: 24 km/15 Miles NE of the City centre.


By Taxi & Limo:
Regular Taxis: Licensed and metered city taxis (with black and yellow, not black and white, plates) can be flagged down outside departures. THB 300-350 from the meter/30-90 mins. Overcharging is common. If the traffic is very busy in Bangkok, many drivers prefer not to use the meter and you must bargain for the price. You should not accept more than 70% of his first offer. Do not enter the taxi before fixing the price. Taxis are subject to a THB 50 airport surcharge, and if you wish to use the express motorway (recommended) a further THB70. For return to the airport expect to pay ~THB 400-450.

By Bus:
Regular public buses some air-conditioned operate on various routes and can be caught from the road in front of the airport.
Public buses No.4,10,13 & 29 (AC) operate every 15-20 mins 0500-2100. 100 Baht/40-60 mins. Non AC bus operates on this route 24hrs. 3.5 Baht. Takes 60 mins. Non air conditioned buses do not allow heavy luggage.

By Train: The Train station is very close to the Airport. To the city 5 Baht/60 mins, however it is reported to be crowded and difficult to use.  Airport Hotels: The Amari Airport Hotel +66 (0)2 566 1020, is opposite the terminals joined by a bridge. Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Intl (BKK):  Location: 25 km/15 Miles ESE of the city centre.  Airport Overview: One huge terminal divided into concourses (A to G). Buses operate from the bus terminal which is reached by a free shuttle.  By Taxi: To the city THB 200-450 (depending on area. Sukhumvit road is closer to 250) + tolls of around THB 65. takes 30-50 mins. At present there is no airport surcharge, but one may be introduced in 2007. There are already reports of taxi drivers charging 4 times the standard fare for trips to the city. Public buses depart and arrive at the Bus Terminal at the Transport Center. This is a short distance from the terminal and is reached by a free shuttle bus (Express route. Runs: Passenger terminal - Car rental center - Public transportation center and bus terminal).
To Bangkok and area:
Airport Express to Bangkok Hotels: The Airport Express provides air-conditioned bus service between Suvarnabhumi Airport and the main Bangkok hotels. The pick up area is on the Arrivals level, 2nd floor (inner curb). The drop off area is on the Departures level, 4th floor (inner curb).

Bus #549 to Minburi: Route: Suvarnabhumi Airport - Ladkrabang Road - Rom Klao Road - Sihaburanukit Road - Seri Thai Road - Bangkapi.
Bus #550 to Happy Land: Route: Suvarnabhumi Airport - Ladkrabang Road - On-Nut Road - Sri Nakarin Road - Ladprao Road - Happy Land.
Bus #551 to Victory Monument: Route: Suvarnabhumi Airport - New Bangkok-Chonburi expressway - Srirat expressway - Asoke - Dindang Road - Rachawithi Road - the Victory Monument.
Bus #552 to On Nut BTS station: Route: Suvarnabhumi Airport - Bangna-Bangpakong Road - Sukhumvit Road - On-Nut sky train station.
Bus #553 to Samut Prakan: Route: Suvarnabhumi Airport - Ladkrabang Road - Kingkaew Road - Bangna-Bangpakong Road - Sri Nakarin Road - Sukhumvit Road - Sai Luad Road - Samut Prakan.
Bus #554 to Don Muang Airport: Route: Suvarnabhumi Airport - New Bangkok-Chonburi expressway - eastern ring road - Ramintra Road - Changwattana Road - Vibhavadi Rangsit Road - Don Muang Airport.

Bus #389 to Pattaya: Route: Suvarnabhumi Airport - Pattaya.
Bus #390 to Talad Rong Kluea: Route: Suvarnabhumi Airport - Talad Rong Kluea.
Bus #825 to Nongkhai Route: Suvarnabhumi Airport - Nongkhai.

By Train: A train link to the city is expected to open in Oct 2007.  Rental Cars: Local and Intl companies operate from the nearby Car Rental Center which is reached by a free shuttle bus (Express route. Runs: Passenger terminal - Car rental center - Public transportation center and bus terminal). Weblinks: Car Trawler Car Hire.  Notes: This is the new airport, but some flights may operate from the old Don Muang airport. Note: Thai Airways International is moving all of its domestic routes, except those involving Phuket, Chiang Mai and Khon Kaen, to Don Muang airport once the Cabinet approves its reopening.  Airport Tax: Intl departure tax of THB 700 for Intl flights payable by all except infants and transit passengers. THB 40 Baht for Domestic flights - Cash Only.  Airport Hotels: Novotel Hotel, +66 2 131 1111, is now open.
