To and From the Airport

Athens/Αθήνα - Eleftherios Venizelos Intl (ATH):

Location: 27 km/17 Miles NE of the City centre.
Airport Website: Athens Airport
By Road: 33 km/21 Miles/45 mins from the city centre.
Driving directions: From Syntagma Square in central Athens, take Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, then turn right to Mesigion Avenue and then to Marathonos Avenue, and through Attiki Odos, which leads to the airport. Toll payable €2.70. Alternatively, passengers starting at Syntagma Square can reach the airport via Sygrou Avenue, Vouliagmenis or Poseidonos Avenue and Varis Coropiou Avenue. Returning to the city there is again a toll of €2.70 to enter Athens City.
By Taxi: The taxi queue is outside Door 4 of the arrivals level. To the city centre €35-38/40-60 mins.

By Express Bus:
General: All buses depart from the arrivals level of the main terminal between doors 4 and 5 on the right hand side as you exit. Follow the signs. 6 bus routes connect the airport with central Athens & the port at Piraeus:
OASA Express Bus X93: 24 hr service Route: Airport - Airport Commercial Park - Kifisias - Filadelphia Junction - Liossion Intercity (KTEL) Bus Station - Rosiniol - Kolokinthous - Kifisos Intercity Bus Station (for buses to Peloponnese, Epirus & Macedonia). Timings: Buses leave the airport daily at 0020, 0055, 0135, 0225, 0315, 0400, 0500, then every 20-30 mins until 2350. uses leave Kifisos at 0035, 0115, 0200, 0245, 0330, 0415, then every 20-30 mins until 2355. Travel Time: Takes 50-70 mins. Cost: €6.00 one way. Buy ticket from office or from driver.
OASA Express Bus X95: 24 hr service runs every 10-20 mins to the airport from Plateia Syntagmatos (Syntagma Square) in the city centre. Takes 60-85 mins. Route: Airport - Pyrgos/Gefrya - Panagitsa - Agios Paraskevi Sq - 7th Cholargou - Karanika - Galaxias - Mavili Square - Ilisia - Hilton - Syntagma Sq. Buses also call at Ethniki Amyna. Timings: Buses leave the airport daily every 15-20 mins 0005-2355. Buses leave Syntagma Square daily at 0005, then every 15-20 mins until 2350. Cost: €6.00 one way. OASA Express Bus X96: 24 hr service runs every 20 mins 0500-2359 and every 40 mins 0000-0459 from Piraeus via Varis-Coropi Avenue. Route: Airport - Airport Commercial Park - Koropi Intersection - Artopoeia Skourli - Scholi Evelpidon - Ekklisia Varis - Pagadakia - Galini - Nosokomio (Hospital) - Afa Plaz Voulas - Pikpa - Asteria - Antonopoulou - Glyfada Square - 6th to 2nd Glyfadas - Dikigorika - 2nd Ellinikou - 1st Ag Kosma - 5th, 3rd & 1st Kalamakiou - Edem - Flisvos - Metro Faliro - Dimotiko - NAT - Piraeus Metro station - Pireas Port. Timings: Buses leave the airport daily at 0010, then every 30-60 mins until 0800, then every 15-20 mins until 2210, then every 30 mins until 2340. Buses leave Peiraias port daily at 0030, then every 30 mins until 0500, then every 15-20 mins until 2030, then every 30 mins until 0000. Cost: €6.00 one way. Buy ticket from office or from driver.
OASA Express Bus X97: Route: Airport - Koropi Intersection - Artopoeia Skourli - Scholi Evelpidon - Ekklisia Varis - Agios Ioannou - Antheon - Trohea - Strofi Sourmenon - 2nd Argyroupoleos - Strofi Ilioupoleos - Dafni Metro Station. Timings: Buses leave the airport daily at 0020, 0130, 0230, 0400, then every 30-60 mins until 2310. Buses leave Dafni daily at 0015, 0130, 0300, 0410, then every 30-60 mins until 2200 & 2310. Cost: €6.00 one way. Buy ticket from office or from driver.
Note: For Express Lines, the ticket costs €6.00 and is valid for a single trip to or from the airport. The monthly ticket cards are also valid on the above 3 lines and cost €38. For those meeting certain requirements, a discounted monthly card is also available for €19. There is a booth next to the bus stops selling tickets. The penalty for not having a validated ticket is 20 times the price of the ticket!
Bus #309 to Koropi: Route: Airport - Koropi Suburban Railway Station. Cost: €0.50. Pay the driver.
By Local Bus:
General: Local buses depart from the arrivals level across the road next to the Sofitel Hotel, and not from the Express Bus stops alongside the terminal.
Local KTEL Bus #2 to Rafina Port: Route: Runs from the airport to Neapoli, Loutsa (Artemis) & the port of Rafina. Timings: Buses run from the airport daily at 0545, 0705, 0850, 1030, 1215, 1410, 1520, 1645, 1800, 1920 & 2045. Buses leave Rafina port daily at 0610, 0800, 0940, 1120, 1300, 1440, 1600, 1720, 1840, 2000 & 2115. Cost: Rafina €3, €1.50 for Lotusa. Pay the driver.
Local KTEL Bus #10 & #11 to Lavrio Port: Route: Airport - Markopoulo - Kalivia Thorikou - Keratea - Agios Marina - Thoriko - Ano Thoriko - Lavrio Port. Timings: Buses run from the airport daily every hour 0630-2030 & 2200. Buses leave Lavrio daily every hour 0530-1830, 1900 & 2130. Cost: €3 or for Lavrio €4. Pay the driver.
Local KTEL Bus #15 to Markopoulo: Route: Runs to and from Markopoulo. Change at Markopoulo for buses to Kalyvia and Keratea. Timings: Buses run from the airport daily at regular intervals 0630-2200. Buses leave Markopoulo daily at regular intervals 0610-2145. Cost: €2. Pay the driver.

TBy Train:
General: The train station is a few minutes walk from the terminal near the airport hotel. It is connected by a walkway from the terminal upper level. Follow the signs.
Light Railway: Proastiakos (Suburban Light Railway) connects the airport to the city. Route: Airport - Koropi - Kantza - Pallini - Doukissis Plakentias (Connect to Metro Line 3) - Kifisias - Nerantziotisa (Connect to Metro Line 1) - Iraklio - Athens, Larissis Station (Connect to Metro Line 2). Timings: Trains depart the airport every 15 mins 0539-2339. Trains depart Neratziotissa every 15 mins 0605-0005. Cost: One way fare up to €6/40 mins. Proastiakos also connects the airport with the city of Korinthos (Corinth), about 110 km W of Airport, 85 km W of Athens City Centre. One way fare €8, journey time around 1hr 20mins.
Metro System: Athens Metro's lines 1 & 3 connect the city centre to the airport. Timings: Trains run every 30 mins (on the hour and half hour) from 0530-0015 (0200 on Fri & Sat nights) and take 27 mins from/to city centre (Syntagma Square). Cost: Single journey ticket costs €6, Return tickets (within 48 hrs) cost €10, Group Tickets for 2 persons cost €10 and Group Tickets for 3 persons cost €15. You can transfer free to any other bus, trolley-bus or metro line within 90 mins .
Rental Cars:
On-Airport Rental Car Providers: AVIS, National/ALAMO, EUROPCAR, Hertz, Budget & eSixT have desks in arrivals in the main terminal. Thrifty is also reported to be represented.

Short Term P1 & P2: 20 mins free, 1 hour €3.80, 2 hrs €6.50, 3 hrs €8.50, 4 hrs €10.50, 5 hrs €13, 6 hrs €15, each extra hour €1. Daily max €25. Each extra day €25.
Long Term P3: 20 mins free, 1 hour €3.80, 2 hrs €6.50, 3 hrs €8.50, 4 hrs €10.50, 24 hrs €13, 2 days €26, 3 days €39, 4-7 days €50, each extra day €5.
Valet Parking: 5 hrs €25, 24 hrs €40, 2 days €53, 3 days €66, 4 days €79, 5-7 days €80. Each extra day €5.

Transfer between terminals: All passengers should check in at the main terminal. A walkway connects the 2 terminals.
Notes: ATMs/Cash machines available in arrivals. Post office in arrivals. Baggage Trolleys/Carts available for €1.
Airport Hotels: Sofitel Athens Airport Hotel, +30 (0)210 354 4000, is close to the Main Terminal, and the Satellite Terminal.
