Amsterdam - Schiphol (AMS): Location: 15 km/9 Miles SW of the City. Airport Map: Click here. Airport Overview: The airport consists of one giant terminal, in the centre of which is the Schiphol Plaza, This is a large public area with shops, restaurants and all the public transport. rains are in the basement whilst buses depart from outside. The size of the terminal means that often very long walks are involved getting to and from aircraft. Driving Directions: The Airport lies on the E19 and is close to the A4 motorway linking Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam. By Taxi: ~35-40/15-25 mins to the centre. Most taxis use meters. Tickets can be bought from the machines in the arrivals hall or on the ground floor of the Plaza, but NOT on the platforms. The code for the city centre on these machines is 1000. See train schedule. Trains depart for the city from platforms 1 or 2, and from the city going to the airport from platform 13A. |
