By Bus:
Notes from a Traveller December 2011: Do NOT follow the signs in the airport complex to 'Shuttle' buses. These are on the ground floor. There are about 50 'stands' there, but they are all for hotel and tour company use. From the arrivals hall, use the lift UP to the 2nd floor (roof), go outside (covered), and turn RIGHT. After a few yards are situated two public (LINEA) bus shelters/stops. One is for Benidorm etc. The other is for the public bus service into ALICANTE city - route C6.
SuBús C-6 to Alicante: Public stopping bus to the city centre. Notes from a Traveller December 2011: Please note the following to avoid undue stress and anxiety! This is a LOOP (circular) route from the airport to the FAR end of ALICANTE city (Puerto del Mar), and back again. BUT - the outward route from the airport travels along the coast road and is a LIMITED stop journey only, including the new bus station, before arriving at the FARTHEST end of the city. It then pauses and returns to the airport, via and through, the city itself stopping at various places. ALL stops are 'requests' (even the bus station) as one passenger discovered to his cost! You will see from this that in fact the FIRST stop in the city is in fact the furthest and the LAST stop is nearest the airport.
